How often does an EV charger need to be inspected in Singapore?
LTA requires every EV charger to be periodically inspected and maintained. At a landed home, a charger equipment specialist inspects it every 24 months. Everywhere else, such as condos, workplaces and car parks, a charger equipment specialist inspects it every 6 months and a Licensed Electrical Worker every 12 months.
Who is responsible for the inspections?
The charger's owner, as its registered responsible person. LTA says failing to ensure a charger is periodically inspected and maintained is an offence.
What records do I need to keep?
The Certificate of Fitness issued when the charger was first certified, and the Certificate of Continued Fitness issued after each periodic inspection. LTA requires them to be kept for at least two years from their dates and handed to LTA on request.
My EV charger is not working. What should I do?
If the cable, connector or housing is damaged, stop using the charger. Then WhatsApp us a photo of the charger and of any lights or error message on it, with its brand and model, and we will tell you the next step.
Is a repair covered by the warranty?
Chargers come with the manufacturer's warranty, and the period depends on the brand and model. For a charger we supplied, we help you with the warranty claim.
